Figuring she’d mention an attack with a cricket bat or a car accident, I said, “you have a heart condition and random shoulder pain, you should be in hospital”.

She listed some other symptoms, which on their own would be fine, but together it was setting off alarm bells. Both her and my sister think I’m overreacting, so I told mum if she wakes up dead, don’t come haunting me about it.

Anyway she’s now waiting for the ambulance.
