don’t worry their bases elsewhere in the world are just fine
If Trump seriously takes off Greenland by force with Danish casualties I expect Canada and Australia would seriously consider escorting Americans out of NORAD and Pine Gap respectively.off=over
sure they will, let’s hear what their dear leaders say
Prime Minister Mark Carney has said he’s not concerned about the future of Canadian oil even if Venezuela begins to produce more of the product following the US seizure of Nicolás Maduro. Speaking to reporters in Paris, Carney said Canadian oil remains competitive because it is “low risk”, “low cost” and “low carbon”. He said Canada welcomed the seizure of Maduro, which “creates the possibility for democratic transition in Venezuela”.
sounds good, these fellas should stand up to bullies just nicely
In a cautious statement, Anthony Albanese said the Australian government was “monitoring developments” in Venezuela, once Latin America’s richest country, and backed “international law and a peaceful, democratic transition” that reflected the will of the people. The response – coming as the US President threatens further action against democratically elected governments in Colombia, Greenland, and communist Cuba – fell short, according to Latin American affairs expert Dr Rodrigo Acuña, as Australia continued to back Ukraine. “It’s total hypocrisy, because if the government in Russia is going to be strongly condemned and there are going to be international sanctions for its invasion of Ukraine, then why can the United States conduct itself in that manner,” Dr Acuña said. “People would expect a stronger statement being made by the Australian Government,” he said. “What occurred was a clear violation of international law,” he said. “You cannot simply just bomb a country, send in your air force and your special operations teams, military teams, and kidnap a head of state and his wife on bogus charges.”
not quite so soft but yeah totally going to reject that fascism
Dr Acuña said the United States – between its threats to Greenland and Mexico, and operations by immigration agents – was “moving towards a pseudo fascist state”, presenting a dilemma for Australia and its Western allies, including the UK and Canada.
oh sorry they meant “pseudo fascist” because it’d be too much to accuse fascists of being fascists
