Obv this isn’t the first officer-involved shooting in the history of the US, or even the 100000th, but it is what happens next that’s important. Right now Homeland Security is running a purely defensive line. If they refuse to cooperate with law enforcement, if they don’t produce the suspect and/or take action on the others that didn’t properly secure the shooter and the scene, then it’s going to be a major turning point.
