I would assume that you could overwhelm defences with enough missiles.
Plus defence you need to take out all of them, whilst attacking you could do serious damage with one or two hits.
Its like the idea of a defence network to take out nukes, only one needs to make a hit and your in trouble.
And in drones and distractions and you aren’t invulnerable anymore.

It’s not d though they haven’t been tested. IIRC there were mock carriers high in western China for this precise reason.
