The problem is radicalisation through the internet and media and that sort of stuff. The answer is censorship and monitoring of people’s internet usage and all that sort of stuff. People won’t tolerate that as an infringement of liberty. Tech companies and telcos won’t wear it as it impinges upon profits.

How many Royal Commissions have there been?

How many of those have produced significant, effective and lasting changes?

I thought there was a Royal Commission into the Ash Wednesday fires here in Victoria (and SA) but apparently John Cain decided against that format and it was a review. Anyway, out in the sticks it did change things and there was quite a bit of community education went on. The science moved on and further changes had to be made later but for the time it was effective in getting people prepared.
