Seems strange when they could use the main hatch to exit the plane.

I’ll give them 2 out of 10 for the creative effort.

What if the plane ditches and the lower deck is filling with water? Or crashes and there’s fire below? Or it’s a freighter and after a crash the freight is blocking the ladder to the lower deck?

Then the escape hatch is a great idea.
