Subject: re: US/Israel/Iran War

Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, who earlier today mocked the US war effort following the gunning-down of an F-15 over Iran, has issued what appears to be a threat to cut off shipping through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, the narrow body of water that connects the Gulf of Aden to the Red Sea (and thus the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean via the Suez Canal).
“What share of global oil, LNG, wheat, rice, and fertiliser shipments transits the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait?” he asks on X, speaking rhetorically. “Which countries and companies account for the highest transit volumes through the strait? 🤔”
