I sat on my reading glasses a while back.. really twisted them out of shape. I twisted the bent arm most of way back again.
Those hinges are surprisingly strong.

Especially when you’ve got the right pliers to do the holding and the bending back into line. And some years of experience at doing it…

(I may have retained screwdrivers and pliers from the practice workshop…Mostly I didn’t do the adjustments and repairs, the staff did that. But I still have some idea about it. For what you describe we always made it clear that we would attempt to re-align the frame, but there was a risk it would break. Most people felt that as the glasses were not useable in their twisted form, it was worth the risk)

What you can do it superglue one part of a Velcro tab to your neck and the other to the glasses and hold them on that way.
