There was a spate of car thefts in Toowoomba, and a copper told me that the thieves preferred automatics, because they’re easier to drive.

The thing about steering wheel locks is that their deterrence lies in making your car more difficult to get away with than the one in the next space, which doesn’t have a steering wheel lock.

“I could break into Car A, and fart around with the steering wheel lock for twenty minutes or more. Or, i could break into Car B (no SWL), hot wire it, and be on my way just like that…”

we used a steering wheel lock when the Navara got real old because the ignition key couldn’t be removed from the ignition, and just talking with lady about that she says it’s still stuck in the ignition to this day, in the vehicle graveyard out back.
