Well, I saw my gp yesterday. He acknowledged my pain, and said it’s entirely consistent with the scan results. I asked to be referred to a pain specialist, but he said he would prefer to send me to an osteopathic surgeon — but not yet. Instead, after noting that I don’t want to take more drugs, he prescribed more drugs for me. So now I take 5 pills in the morning, 2 in the afternoon, and 6 at night. And I’m still in a lot of pain.

Is there another GP available? You have the right to a) another opinion, and b) to advocate for yourself. If you say you don’t want more pills but you do want the pain clinic, the dr should be listening.

I know; I’m looking for a different doctor, and considering going to the local hospital’s emergency dept this weekend.
