It turns out that Vietnamese salad-filled spring rolls are called “summer rolls”. And that the name “spring rolls” refers to these foods being traditional food for various Chinese spring festivals.

I had just looked up “spring rolls etymology” to understand why they might be call that. Turns out that the reason is simple, not complex. I had hoped for some weirdness.
