There’s a 1982 adaptation of the same story, also called The Thing, directed by John Carpenter, with a much more interesting monster, and a 2011 prequel, also called The Thing, directed by a Dutch director, Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. The 1982 version focused on paranoia and was quite a good film, but the 2011 one has a rewritten monster and was just plain bad.
