I’m the same anytime someone talks about a certain president coming to harm.. it’s fucking creepy when people say that, but if I spoke up every time it turns into a game for others. I’ve said it once that wishing harm on others is horrible, and I’ll let you know if anything changes. Some posters here say things controversially to get a rise out of others who have openly displayed disapproval about a topic… I’m not playing those games.
It is scary because there are nutjobs on both sides & by wishing harm, in a country with more guns than people, you are creating a permission structure for abhorrent behaviours.
In the US, almost three women are killed by an intimate partner every day.
Just as in the case of Aszia Johnson, women in the U.S. are predominantly killed by men they know, and largely by current or former intimate partners.
Of all female homicides in 2018 in which the victim-to-offender relationship could be identified, 92% of victims were killed by a man they knew, and 63% were killed by current husbands, boyfriends, or ex-husbands.
And
In America 1 in 3 girls between 11 and 17 experience attempted rape or rape. Usually by their fathers, close male relatives or family friends.

So with a third of girls experiencing some form of child rape, that’s why so many could vote for a child rapist.
And creating more permissions for this type of rhetoric just validates and reinforces violent behaviours.
