Today I was mostly with older kids, years 5 and 6. They wrote about their school holidays. Some kids had really shitty holidays and refused to write about it, but some kids talked to me about it instead. Some kids didn’t get anything for Easter. Some kids witnessed, or were part of, DV situations. Some kids have generational trauma. Some kids were forced to stay with relatives they don’t like/hurt them.

I just don’t understand how people can do things to their kids, partners, and ex-partners. I’d never make it through Arts’ course.

I also corrected a year 2 teacher who had written “what are galexy’s made of?”

my brain is clinical. and I am good at compartmentalising. and I don’t feel the same emotions as humans do.

But sometimes it is still upsetting.

There is a pretty well known cautionary story in my area of study that is about a seasoned detective, very high ranking, been in the job for a long time and quite well dajusted, who was tasked to catalogue all of the tools of a particularly sadistic serial sexual offender and kidnapper. She did her job diligently – it took days, maybe even weeks. Once she was finished she went home and died by suicide with her issue revolver.

sad studd, but definitely a reminder to take care of your brain.

Do you find you brain gets used to it and whilst not normal its impact in general is lessened.
