Kenelm Lee Guinness, of the Irish brewing family, was a noted racing car driver of the early years, shown here in a 1922 Grand Prix Sunbeam.

Unfortunately, in the following year, Guinness was involved in a crash that put an end to his racing. His mechanic was killed and he himself suffered head injuries, after which he was never quite the same.

He gassed himself in 1937 at the age of 49.
