OK, make that only for very short term storage then.

we thought (from reading elsewhere) the whole (sensible, as opposed to undecided) argument about this was that massive flywheels already exist in “traditional” fossilburning electrical generators, and were responsible for a fair part of the surge resilience of the “traditional” grid (as very short term storage), and so the massive flywheels part of it could simply continue with a modification that they run as motor-generators rather than turbine-generators
