The cynic in me thinks that the war is deliberately being prolonged, so as to continue to delete the military assets of Russia. A fair few countries are continuing to donate weapons & money to Ukraine, so they should be able to sustain their efforts for longer.

It has changed. Malcom Nance has been talking about how a $500 drone can destroy a 1.6-billion-dollar radar thingy. So America has probably run out of a lot of their munitions.
