I guess I am quite similar. My basic philosophy is that of naturalism. On human evolution I think that humans have evolved two natures: one nasty selfish and brutal, and the other empathetic cooperative and social. We have the choice in our conscious mind as to which side we follow. I am not sure it can be bred or engineered out of us.

It can be learned.
