Darkness can move faster than light.

A recent experiment revealed that individual dark points on a light wave can move faster than the wave itself. According to a 2026 study, individual dark spots within light waves, known as optical vortices, can travel faster than the speed of light, challenging, but not breaking, special relativity.

Space can move faster than light.

Space itself can expand, contract, or move faster than the speed of light (\(c\)) without breaking physical laws. While Einstein’s theory of relativity prohibits matter or information from moving through space faster than \(c\), the fabric of spacetime itself is not subject to this limit, allowing
distant galaxies to recede from us at superluminal speeds.
