It’s a just a word processor. A quick Google for free word processors and now I am downloading Libre.

If you find that that’s no good, I use OpenOffice and can recommend it. These days, I mainly use its spreadsheet.

For simple text editing, I use notepad. It makes tiny files, and for Win 11, has a spell checker and a few other bells and whistles, including being able to multiple tabs open.
