We have a brush turkey that may have taken up residence or might be thinking about it. It’s been wandering about and scratching stuff up more and more frequently. Twice so far today. It pinched a tomato earlier. It appears to be unconcerned by our presence. I hope it doesn’t move our compost pile to another place.
My sister had a brush turkey who decided to build a nest spanning her whole driveway using materials plucked from her gardens. She combatted the problem using spikes and stuffed toys around her gardens. Brush turkey quickly moved on.
Interesting to know. What sort of spikes? What sort of stuffed toys?
I’ll have a better look at it next time I see it. If it’s female or juvenile male there is no reason to be concerned. Adult male would be another story.
Bird spikes like these https://www.pestrol.com.au/buy-online/extra-wide-stainless-steel-bird-spikes/
and any old stuffed toys she got from the op shop. Nothing specific, nothing fancy.
